Every time you bring your children through our doors to learn how to swim, you're trusting us to deliver the absolute best lessons. Houston Swim Club is a large swim school that serves the entire Houston area, and we're dedicated to teaching lifesaving skills and making a difference, but we can't do it alone.
Did you know that HSC is just one part of a huge community of passionate, dedicated people?
Twice a year, HSC and a number of other swim schools from around the world all meet to discuss the "Swim Instruction Industry". It's the United States Swim School Association (USSSA), an organization made up of over 400 swim schools. Their members are from countries all over the world, from different cultures, speaking different languages, and from different socioeconomic conditions.
The one thing they have in common? Saving lives! Every member of the USSSA is committed to reducing the drowning rate, which as we all know (Texas, especially Houston and Harris County, ranks at one of the highest drowning incidents) is an enormous but preventable problem.
This year was extra special for us at Houston Swim Club because it was hosted right here in Sugar Land!
We may be a big swim school in Houston, but we're just a small part of a bigger swim family. The USSSA conference allows us to all meet and share ideas with each other. With every visit we learn something new. At this Spring Conference, we listened to the Katy Mom’s Network, who HSC partners with, tell other swim schools how they can join with moms groups around in their areas to help bring the message of water safety to their local neighborhoods. We learned how to better develop our program and our business to serve our families. We learned tips on how to make swim lessons more fun, more engaging, and our facilities more relaxing and enjoyable for our parents. And…other swim schools learned the same from us, from our successes, our trials, and our challenges.
Every year we have a Christmas tree party in the pool…yup, that idea came from a conference. Have you seen our new "Happy Nappy" swim diapers that are many times more effective at preventing accidents in the pool? Yup, conference! Have you seen us improving our levels and curriculum? Conference!
In fact, HSC was honored to HOST an Infant-Toddler educational workshop right in our own Sugar Land swim pool. We learned tips and tricks for teaching little ones how to swim, how to engage them in class, and how their little minds work.
Then, the group of 100+ owners, managers, lifeguards, and swim instructors brought everything they learned back to all corners of the world to keep saving lives.
