Once again it's pumpkin season at Houston Swim Club!
Every year we incorporate pumpkins into our swim lessons for a whole week of Halloween fun. This year, while a little different, was no exception!
What does Halloween and pumpkins have to do with SWIM LESSONS? A lot! Because Houston Swim Club believes that learning to swim should be fun. We are always finding unique ways to incorporate fun and play into our curriculum.
This year, we continued the tradition. We dressed up for Halloween and exchanged goodie-bags, swam with pumpkins in the water to improve endurance, and learned to float side by side with a round orange friend.
Right! Did you know that pumpkins float? In our lower levels, our students are learning to be safeR in the water and float on their backs if they ever fall into a body of water. Our instructors incorporated pumpkins into the lessons to teach them about buoyancy. Yep, pumpkins CAN float just like HSC swimmers!
Our kiddos learn so much better because they’re having FUN!
To top the week off, we also held our 4th Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Lifeguards, Instructors, and Office staff from all six locations divided into teams and created their latest pumpkin masterpieces!
At each location, the team's pumpkins were put on display for students and parents to vote on their favorite. We gathered a LOT of votes! From each pool, the winner was then submitted to our social media on Facebook and Instagram to determine HSC's 2020 Grand Champion pumpkin.
The results are in, and the grand winner is the super-fun Olaf pumpkin from Cypress!
Congratulations to the Cypress crew! All of the pumpkins were fantastic this year. Check out all of the winners from our other pools...
We can’t wait to see what our creative HSC employees will come up with next year!
