You may have already seen Howey and our dedicated staff touring the Houston area, spreading the message of water safety to parents and children everywhere. If not, you will soon! Houston Swim Club Swim School is on the road, visiting elementary schools, parks, and shopping centers.
At Houston Swim Club, we don’t just teach water safety skills in the pool, we teach it everywhere! We know the importance of teaching water safety in and out of the pool…we’re more than just swim lessons. We have a PASSION for water safety and reducing the number of drownings.
So far this year we have given presentations at moms groups, visited elementary schools during fun events, and made friends at kid’s camp fairs and holiday carnivals.
Summer is rapidly approaching, and as always in Houston, water is a great way to take a break from the heat. Sadly, summer is also the time when we see more child drownings across the US. It can happen to anyone, anywhere…pools, bathtubs, the beach, the lake…
Did you know that drowning is one of the leading causes of death for children under the age of 5? Last year in 2022 Texas saw nearly 100 children lose their lives to drowning accidents. That’s a terrifying statistic for parents and for us as water safety educators…which is why we’ve dedicated our lives to moving that needle.
Houston Swim School has been teaching water safety for over 60 years in Houston. We know that gaining lifesaving skills (like learning to float on your back if you fall into a body of water) at a professional swim school (ANY reputable swim school) can reduce the risk of drowning by 88%!
But the learning doesn’t stop in swim class. We travel around the city educating parents about water safety. Whether at a booth during events, in a classroom speaking to children, or at moms events giving presentations, we want to make sure everyone knows that these tragic drownings are preventable!
