Ready for a fantastic summer? We hope you will have fun in the water, but be safe!
While it is our goal to help your children become excellent swimmers, gain confidence in the water, and create a passion and love for the water...it is still HIGHLY important that YOU watch your children around water! Accidents can happen to anyone...even the most experienced swimmers.
Here are some important safety tips while swimming at a community or public pool
- Be sure the facility is safe! Are there fences that limit access to the pool? Does the equipment appear to be running? Is there safety gear (life rings, reaching poles) accessible?
- Is there a lifeguard at the pool to watch children and adults?
- Follow the safety rules posted at the pool.
- Watch for "No Diving" signs. This means the pool may be too shallow for diving, and serious injury can occur if you dive.
- Never run around a pool!
- Be sure to have a charged phone close by at all times in case of emergency.
- It's always a great idea to become CPR certified on children and adults and keep skilled updated regularly.
- Always wear sunscreen when outside! Check out our Summer Sunscreen Tips.
No one is ever completely "Water Safe". Children and adults should always be aware of the dangers of water.
Never become complacent or too relaxed! Always designate a "Water Watcher" and help prevent drownings!
