The 2024 Paris Olympics are ALMOST HERE! Opening ceremonies will begin in July 26. All week long, Houston Swim Club Swim School will be following the summer Olympics in Paris, rooting for Team USA, and sharing their triumphs and challenges.
Swimming competitions will begin on Saturday, July 27, and will continue throughout the week until Sunday, August 4. You can read all about the USA Swim Team on the usaswimming.org team page.
Ask your little swimmer what their favorite stroke is! Freestyle? Backstroke? Butterfly? Find their event on the schedule and tune in to watch!
We followed Simone's progress in the 2016 Olympics where she took home the gold medal in the Women's 100m Freestyle, and her success with the 4x100m Freestyle Relay in 2021, earning a bronze. The 50m Women's Freestyle is scheduled for Aug 3. She will also be swimming in the 100m Freestyle Relay. Be sure to tune in and support our hometown athlete!
If you didn't already know, Simone took swim lessons as a child at our HSC Sharpstown pool. Yes, she was a Guppy once, too, so we're especially excited to watch her compete! You never know what might spark when children are introduced to swimming. Maybe your little Guppy will be the next to grow up and swim in the Olympics! When you are at swim class, be sure to stop by the office or check-in desk between July 22 and August 3 for an awesome Howey Olympics tattoo (temporary of course!) and take a photo at our "Future Olympians" photo wall.
